Students’ Initiative on Healthcare in Africa

Japanese Name:

アフリカ医療研究会

Keio Students’ Initiative on Healthcare in Africa has been focusing on studying global health and the medical system/health situation in Africa. From 2012 to 2017, we travelled to the Democratic Republic of the Congo every summer to promote healthcare with people in the DRC. We conducted health checkups and healthcare workshops at a primary school in the DRC. During the pandemic, we were unable to travel, but stayed connected to our contacts overseas through social media. We organized virtual classes focusing on wellbeing and health for the children at the orphanage we work with. Last year (2023), we finally travelled to Zambia for the first time after the pandemic. We conducted our usual health activities, including healthcare workshops on physical and mental health and public survey. We usually have a weekly meeting at Shinanomachi Campus along with study sessions. We also plan to visit Zambia this year, and continue to broaden our activities and connections domestically. For those who are interested in our group, please feel free to contact us. Our door is always open!
